Hazardous Waste Export-Import Revisions -- Final Rule
Wednesday, February 01, 2017-- EPA is amending existing regulations regarding the export and import of hazardous wastes from and into the United States. EPA is making these changes to: Provide greater protection to human health and the environment by making existing export and import related requirements more consistent with the current import-export requirements for shipments between members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD); enable electronic submittal to EPA of all export and import-related documents (e.g., export notices, export annual reports); and enable electronic validation of consent in the Automated Export System (AES) for export shipments subject to RCRA export consent requirements prior to exit. -- (full text)

U.S. EPA and Customs joint operations at Southern California ports result in fines and seizure of illegal engines and pesticides
Thursday, January 19, 2017-- Today, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced $217,998 in fines and more than 5,325 items seized or denied entry to the United States. These are the latest results of continued joint operations at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach targeting foreign-made engines, including scooters, ATVs, chainsaws and construction equipment without proper emission controls, as well as pesticides that violate federal law.
